ERMI stands for Environmental Relative Moldiness Index , a test developed by the EPA for use in large-scale mold research studies—not for routine home inspections. It uses DNA analysis (qPCR) to compare dust samples from your home to a database of 36 mold species.

ERMI Test Process:

  • A sample of dust is collected from carpets or surfaces.
  • That dust is sent to a lab that runs DNA-based testing.
